"In the last few years Icelandic design has been greatly evolving and advancing, with a
number of new designers emerging. With added media coverage both worldwide and locally,
general interest in the field has dramatically risen. Birkiland was designed as a platform for
Icelandic designers to present their products, and a place where the public, both in Iceland
and abroad can have easy access to great design.
Birkiland is an e-commerce site, carrying a variety of Icelandic design, as well as various
books and literature on design, architecture and photography among other things. You can
also find information about the designers and their products. Many of Iceland's most
prominent designers offer their products on the Birkiland site, for example Tinna
Gunnarsdottir, Hrafnkell Birgisson, Bjorg Juto and more.
